 Mawson Station Electrical Energy

Due to the implementation of energy saving initiatives such as the installation of wind turbines and utilising a cogeneration system, considerable savings have been made in the amount of diesel fuel consumed on Australian Antarctic Stations. This benefits the environment due to reduced green house gas emissions while directly saving money.

Mawson station is able to produce environmentally friendly power via the wind turbines to supply both electricity and heat.
