Jobs supporting Australia's Antarctic program

Current vacancies

Details of Expeditioner Positions with the Australian Antarctic program are available from the following site:

There are many jobs in Australia supporting Australia's Antarctic program at our four Antarctic stations. Antarctica is governed through an international agreement known as the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS). One of Australia's key objectives is to support the ATS and enhance our standing in it. To do this we need to have sound environmental practices, robust policies, a strong voice in international forums and a well informed community.

Australia's Antarctic program is largely science based, but science in Antarctica is not possible without people who recruit and train expeditioners, ensure the provisioning of the stations, co-ordination of the shipping and air transport, and providing the infrastructure (buildings, power supply, equipment, computers, communications, etc.) which allows people to live and work on the world's coldest, driest, windiest and highest continent.

Many of these support jobs are at the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) in Kingston.
