Reports

In addition to Antarctic Science Advisory Committee (ASAC) and Antarctic Animal Ethics Committee (AAEC) reporting requirements most permits require a report within 30 days of the expiry of the permit.

1. For permits issued under the following legislation a permit report is only required if stated as a condition of the permit. The report may consist of a brief emailed statement reporting against compliance with the permit conditions, and providing any other details required by the conditions:

  • Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC),
  • Antarctic Marine Living Resources Conservation Act 1981 (AMLR),
  • Antarctic Treaty (Environment Protection) Act 1980 (ATEP) except for ASPA protected area entry permits or seals permits, or
  • Heard Island and McDonald Islands Environment Protection and Management Ordinance 1987 (HIMI).

2. As soon as practicable after doing the act a report is required under the Antarctic Treaty (Environment Protection) Act 1980 (ATEP) where in accordance with the permit a person has:

  • caused death or injury, took or interfered with a native bird, invertebrate or seal;
  • disturbed a native bird or seal;
  • caused injury to or other interference with a native plant;
  • gathered or collected a native plant; or
  • entered or carried out activities in an Antarctic Specially Protected Area (ASPA).

Additionally the permit may require a report within a specified period.

3. For protected areas permits (allowing entry to ASPA's) under the Antarctic Treaty (Environment Protection) Act 1980 (ATEP) there is an activity report form: ATEP ASPA Permit Report. This includes the Protected Areas Site Visit report for activities conducted within protected areas. If the report form asks you to list information in an appendix include the information at the end of the report as there are no longer a series of extra appendix forms.

4. For permits issued for activities involving seals use the following report form SEALS Report form.

These reports may be emailed or mailed to the AAD Antarctic Territories, Environment and Policy Section within 30 days after the permit expiry.
