Parmales 1

Parmales are marine nanoplankton (ie: the cells are 3-5 x10-9 m in diameter) and have cells walls made up of siliceous plates with species specific ornamentation. They contain a large chloroplast and are one of the most abundant groups of phytoplankton in polar and sub-polar waters.
