The International Antarctic Institute (IAI) was established in July 2006 to serve as an educational centre for Antarctic programmes. It facilitates cross accreditation of courses from partner institutes.

The IAI currently involves 12 countries with programmes in Antarctic education and/or Antarctic research. While its headquarters are based at the University of Tasmania, the IAI is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary institution offering jointly accredited degrees from undergraduate level to Masters.
