Annual base salary (while in Australia)
$54,383 pa ($2,084 per fortnight before tax)
In addition whilst working in Antarctica an allowance of $49,014 pa is payable.
As the Carpenter you'll maintain station buildings and field huts by carrying out carpentry, painting, plastering, tiling, floor covering, glazing, concreting, rigging and shot firing.
The role also involves safe operation of the carpenter's workshop plus maintaining a wide range of woodworking machinery and power tools.
You'll participate in building construction work involving the mixing and pouring of concrete foundations and the erection and fit-out of steel framed buildings. Additionally you'll submit monthly and annual reports, and assist with science programs when necessary.
Essential qualification – you will have a suitable trade or technical certificate in the building trade group such as carpenter or carpenter/joiner. Additional courses and/or training in the industry are an advantage.

The typical employment period for Carpenters varies between approximately 6 to 15 months.
Recreation Leave - You will accrue recreation leave at the equivalent of 20 days for each full year worked. Please note that recreation leave is not available in Antarctica.
Superannuation - A generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will apply where eligibility to join the Public Sector Superannuation Accumulation Plan is established.
